Course Schedule & Units

Unit 1: Biochemistry

This unit studies the basics of chemistry, macromolecules, carbon, water, and enzymes.

Unit 2: Cells

This unit studies the basic unit of life: The cell.  The cell membrane, cell-to-cell signaling, mitosis, and meiosis are also studied.

Unit 3: Energy

This unit studies metabolism, cellular respiration (how organisms get energy from the food they eat), and photosynthesis (how plants convert light energy into chemical energy).

Unit 4: Genetics & Molecular Genetics

This unit studies Mendelian genetics, DNA, transcription, translation, DNA technology, and cancer.

Unit 5: Evolution

This unit studies natural selection, population genetics, types of evolution, and causes of evolution.  The origins and timeline of biological diversity is also highlighted.
