Mission Statement

The Writing Center promotes literacy development through support and coaching in reading and writing. The center will be a safe environment where students will gain confidence and appreciation for their writing. The center is open to all writers in every academic discipline in the CJ community. Through conversations and collaboration, tutors will motivate/serve writers at every step of the writing process including discovery, prewriting, outlining, drafting and revision

Hours of Operation

Located in room 126, the center is open everyday during all 8 periods including homeroom.

Highlights

• The Writing Center is open to all writers of all levels - general, CP, honors, faculty & staff.

• We are eager to help teachers with their own writing assignments: constructing assignments, creating rubrics, etc. We can also help teachers with letters of recommendation, grants, etc.

• The Writing Center is not a fix-it shop. All writing coming from the Writing Center is the sole responsibility of the student-writer.

• Tutors in the Writing Center will motivate writers through discussions and collaboration.

• The Writing Center will be staffed by qualified instructors.
