Resources for Students and Families

There are plenty of opportunities for students to get involved with athletic teams and extracurricular activities at CJ. Many groups will be having meetings, conditioning sessions, and hosting events before the start of the 2011-12 school year. For the latest information regarding these activities be sure to check back here as we continue to post updates. Also, let us know what activities your student is interested in by completing the online Interest Form below.

Physicals and Emergency Medical Forms

The required OHSAA forms (click to view/print) are also available in the athletic office.  Additionally, if your child is involved in summer activities it is required that an Emergency Medical Form (click to view/print) be turned in to the school by June 3, 2011.

Cross Country

What you need to know: Beginning August 1, the men's and women's teams will have mandatory practice starting at 7 p.m. at Triangle Park (directions). Physicals are required by that date.

Men's Golf

What you need to know:  Golf tryouts for the boys team will be Thursday, August 4 at 1 p.m. at Miami Valley Golf Club (directions). Our first event of the year will be on Wednesday, August 8 at Dayton Country Club (directions) with Oakwood H.S. hosting their first ever invitional.

Women's Golf

Men's Soccer

What you need to know:  Conditioning sessions for all registered students are Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Student Conditioning Center (calendar). Team camp will be held July 18-22 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.; the cost is $85. The first practice will be August 1, 2011.

What you need to know:  Try-outs will be held Monday and Tuesday, August 1-2: Incoming freshman should report from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; girls in grades 10-12 should report from 7 to 9 p.m. The first day of practice is August 8, 2011.

What you need to know:  Anyone interested in participating should email coach Joe Staley for open gym times and dates. Team camp will be June 27-30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; cost is $90. Summer conditioning sessions will be announced at camp. The first day of practice is November 4, 2011.

What you need to know:  Interested in rowing for one of the best teams in the nation?  No Experience is needed or expected!

Jr. High Coed Tennis

What you need to know:  CJ sponsors spring tennis teams for both junior high boys and girls every spring. Practice begins in April at Arthur Fisher Park (directions) with the first game Monday, April 11. Any 7th and 8th graders interested should email coach Jim Brooks. Please bring one can of tennis balls to your first practice.

Extracurriculars

Athletic Trainer

What you need to know:  CJ students work closely with Lori Dozer, the school's trainer who is certified by the National Athletic Training Association, assisting with prevention and care of injuries to those on their respected sports teams during the fall, winter and spring sports seasons. Band

What you need to know:  Band camp will be June 6-10 from 1 to 5 p.m. Attendance is mandatory for any student registered for concert band, orchestra and percussion for the 2011-12 school year. There is no fee for camp.  Evening rehearsals will begin in August, contact Debi Schutt for more details.

Dance Team

Performing Arts

What you need to know:   Students have many options for getting invovled with Performing Arts at CJ. Band and choir perform four concerts a year in addition to performances by members of the school's pop a cappella group VEGA.  Theatre students put on two drama productions a year including a fall play and a spring musical. Fall play try-outs will be in September and spring musical try-outs will be in January.

Fall Auditions:  Auditions for the Fall Play will be held August 22-24 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the CJ auditorium. Rehearsal will begin Thursday, September 29 after school (times TBA).

Auditions for CJ's second pop a cappella group will be Thursday, August 25 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the CJ music room. The group will rehearse two days a week directly after school from 3:10 to 4 p.m.
