Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a national non-profit engineering and biomedical sciences education program found in approximately 3,000 secondary schools in all 50 states nationwide.  Its sequence of courses, when combined with appropriate mathematics and science courses in middle and high school, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering, technology, and biomedical sciences prior to entering college.  The programs’ formal curriculum is rigorous and contemporary, problem/project-based, and is supported by relevant teacher professional development which is provided in a required immersion format and further augmented in an ongoing manner through a web-based Virtual Academy.

April 15, 2011:  The Ohio PLTW affiliate at Sinclair Community College conducted a site visit at Chaminade Julienne, as part of our application for national certification.  The Directors recommended both CJ's PLTW programs (Engineering and Biomedical Sciences) for national certification.

November 3, 2011:  Chaminade Julienne was officially recognized as a Project Lead the Way Nationally Certified School at the annual Project Lead the Way Ohio Fall Conference.  CJ remains the only Catholic high school in the nation (and one of just 30 total) dually certified in both the biomedical sciences and pre-engineering tracks. Additionally, with dual enrollment, CJ PLTW students can earn college credit for their high school coursework.  Read more >
