As a teacher, I believe that all children can learn and need to be given a chance to learn. However, students with special needs often need to learn in a different way than what is taught. When I designed the program it was set up to look at each student as an individual and address those needs. Although I also believe that students develop with the help of their peers, so students are in regular classes with their peers. I also feel it is important to educate the whole child. I encourage student participation in extracurricular activities, where students can show off other talents.
I graduated from CJ in 1988 and went onto University of Dayton. I graduated with my BS in Elementary Education and Special Education (Developmental Disabilities and Multi Handicap). I went back to UD earned my Master of Education – Early Childhood, Special Education and General Education in 1999. In the fall of 1999, I was hired to set up a full inclusion program for students with special needs at CJ. In 2010 I earned my National Teaching Certification. I am mother of four beautiful children, Jennifer, Donald, David and Daniel, and wife to Don.
