There are many ways for you to become actively involved in the CJ community. Whether you enjoy athletics, leadership, or performing arts, there is a club, team or activity for you to join--or organize and develop. Eagle Spirit calls you to be involved in the community in your own way and at your own pace with students and mentors who share your passions and interests. Take advantage of time spent with teachers, moderators and coaches who want you to succeed. Become involved, meet new friends, enjoy life at CJ. It is yours for the taking!

STUDENT LIFE

Vega Auditions May 22 & 24  -  NEW

Auditions for next school year's premier pop a cappella group Vega will be Tuesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 24 from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the CJ music room for all current CJ freshmen, sophomores and juniors.

To audition, students need to sign up in Joe Whatley's office (across from the music room) in order to pick up the other audition music that will be sung at auditions and callbacks; must be actively participating in CJ Performing Arts Ensemble for the 2012-13 school year; and should prepare 30 to 60 seconds of a pop a cappella song. Callbacks will be held Friday, May 25 from 3:15 to 6 p.m.

Please note that auditions for CJ's second pop a cappella group Age V will be held during the fall of 2012. With questions, please email Joe Whatley, director.

GUIDANCE

College Information Folders Available for Juniors  -  REMINDER

Juniors have been asked to stop by the guidance office and pick up their blue College Informational folder from our College Planning session if they were unable to attend. This important folder is full of information your student will use and need for college planning. If you have not seen one at home as of yet, please remind your son or daughter to stop in our office.

ATTN Class of 2013: Mark Your Calendars  -  REMINDER

Due to a scheduling conflict, the guidance office is rescheduling the date of the mandatory Senior eDocs / Transcript College Application workshop to Wednesday, September 5 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. ( it was previously scheduled for September 12). All seniors are required to be in attendance.

There will now be an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium for any parents and students who could not attend the spring meeting on March 26. New and updated information will be available in the fall for anyone interested.

ATHLETICS

Cheerleading Try-Outs  -  NEW

Cheerleading try-outs will be held in the main gym from 4 to 6:30 p.m. every day from Tuesday, May 22 through Friday, May 25. These try-outs are closed to all spectators. Please read the 2012-13 Cheerleading Try-out Packet before try-outs.

Summer Youth Rowing Program Starts May 26

The Junior High Select Rowing Program, a feeder program for CJ rowing, begins the weekend of May 26 with approximately 20 sessions occurring three times each week. Requirements include previous rowing camp experience. For more information, email or call Trish Miles (937) -344-4771, or visit daytonboatclub.org. An end-of-summer session will also be held for those attending Introductory Camps this year.

June Physicals for Just $15  -  REMINDER

The CJ athletic office, in conjunction with Good Samaritan Hospital, is once again offering physicals during two days in June for $15. Students must bring payment along with a completed and signed OHSAA Pre-participation Physical Evaluation form.

Physicals will be given on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturday, June 2 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Good Samaritan North Health Center (directions), and on Monday, June 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Huber Heights (directions).

HEALTH CLINIC

Reminders from Nurse Tere McDonald

Before you break for summer, be sure that you've taken the necessary steps to have all your bases covered with the CJ Health Clinic.

If you have medication stored in the clinic, please remind him or her that it must be taken home for the summer before Friday, June 1 at noon. Any medication that is not retrieved by the last day of school will be destroyed.

All returning and incoming students are required to complete and submit a 2012-13 Emergency Medical Form if you haven't already done so. These forms must be on file by Friday, June 1.

Finally, if your student is signed up to attend any overnight summer mission trips and will need to take medication (either prescription or over-the-counter), please have your doctor complete one Authorization for School Personnel Administration of Medication Form per medication in accordance with school policy. These forms must be on file by Thursday, May 31.

Updated forms and procedures for the 2012-13 school year have been updated and can be downloaded at cjeagles.org. Please contact the Health Clinic at (937) 461-3740 x227 with any questions or concerns.

How to Access Webmail

Please reference the following instructions for accessing Webmail (view printable version with screenshots):

  1. Go to https://mail.cjeagles.org/owa

  2. If you are prompted with a screen that questions the website's security certificate, you need to choose "Continue to this website (not recommended)." This is a secure site and will be OK to access even though this warning is popping up.

  3. At the new login screen you need to enter "chaminade\user name" and your regular CJ computer password to gain access to Webmail.

If you have problems, please see Mrs. Harrington (email) in the library or Mr. Fuchs (email) in the guidance office.
