Ohio Educatonal Choice Program
February 12, 2020
Since last fall, Chaminade Julienne has been monitoring the legislative progress regarding Ohio Educational Choice Scholarship and has been in communication with CJ families who would potentially qualify for the scholarship or the expansion programs. On January 31, 2020, Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill that moved the opening date for the aplications for the Ohio Educational Choice Scholarship from February 1 to April 1. This was to allow the state legislature more time to discuss elibility for the program, which included a large list of newly eligible schools.
Chaminade Julienne join families in being disappinted by these last-minute decisions — and indecisions. It has made planning for the 2020-2021 school year certainly more difficult for our families, and for our CJ team to react to decisions yet to be made, and with information that is incomplete from our state legislature. However, the school is positioned to work with families now to help them best prepare for when the application process does open.
