Lucas Pfander Race Grows in 5th Year

Half a decade since its inception, the Lucas Pfander Memorial Alumni Race -- and support for its cause -- continues to grow with the rising legacy of the race's namesake.

The 5th annual iteration of Chaminade Julienne’s summertime tradition took  place on campus Saturday, Aug. 10. More than 170 runners and families participated in the 1-mile youth walk/run and 2-mile adult run. Proceeds from donations and t-shirt sales at the free race supported the Lucas Pfander Scholarship.

2012 CJ Distinguished Alumni Awards

Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School honored the 2012 class of Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame inductees during an awards dinner at NCR Country Club on September 27.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards, first started in 1997, are intended to honor graduates of CJ and its four predecessor schools (Notre Dame Academy, Chaminade, Julienne, and St. Joseph Commercial) who have made significant impacts on their communities and professions. The awards ceremony is a celebration of the entire CJ community, highlighting the past as the foundation for the future.

Ask principal John Marshall ‘86 (who has added “Twitter” to his vocabulary), and you will quickly learn the two-fold implications of following the trends of student success data for Chaminade Julienne and the young people it serves.

Martin Sheen '58 Serves With CJ Students

Martin Sheen rolled up his sleeves and joined five students from Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School in assisting volunteers at the Dayton Foodbank Wednesday, May 30.

The actor and native Daytonian made his way back home to the Miami Valley to begin a two-day tour alongside Senator Sherrod Brown in support of his campaign for re-election. The pair helped pack lunches for area schoolchildren in need at the downtown distribution center – the destination of weekly R.E.A.C.H. service site visits by CJ students.
