CJ Parents are Partners in Mission

At Chaminade Julienne, all parents are considered Partners in Mission.

This philosophy was the driving force behind the school’s new parent and student orientation, which was held Tuesday evening in the cafeteria. Families beginning their first year as members of the CJ community were invited to meet one another, hear from faculty and staff, and take a closer look at the school’s guiding principles.

All families were provided with their own copy of CJ’s Mission Effectiveness booklet to take home. John Marshall, principal, gave a welcome and opening prayer followed by brief presentations from representatives of the Blue Green Club, the Parents of Performing Arts Students (PoPS) club, and various school departments.

At the end of the night, students were able to pick up their Chromebooks. As part of the one-to-one rollout of the Connected Classroom program, all students will receive one of these devices, and make use of the Google© suite of products, for the 2014-15 school year.

Organizers Molly Bardine, English teacher, and Greg Mueller, administrator, told attendees they plan to host a series of “Partners in Mission” sessions over breakfast throughout the course of the school year.

The intention, according to Mueller, is to allow parents a relaxed opportunity to build community, get to know one another, and become more familiar with the charisms of the school’s two sponsoring religious orders -- the Marianists and Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

Look for more information on the Partners in Mission sessions to be announced at a later date, or email Greg Mueller with questions.
