It’s not just Eagle student athletes spending the final days of summer tuning up for the impending 2013 athletic season.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, about 30 parents of current students and Eagle Youth players put their game faces on and participated in the CJ Eagle Moms Camp. The morning seminar, hosted in the library and Student Conditioning Center, included a complimentary breakfast and breakout sessions with trainers and members of the coaching staff.
Topics discussed included:
- CJ Football philosophy
- CJ Football offensive & defensive plays
- Nutrition and hygiene
- Referee calls/signals
- College football
- Life after football
According to head coach Marcus Colvin, Moms Camp is designed as a friendly and inviting way for parents to learn the fundamental aspects of the game. It also provides families with an opportunity to get to know the Eagles football program, and each other, more closely before the season starts.
The 2013 Moms Camp was the second in Colvin's three-year tenure as head coach, and he said the program plans to make the seminar an annual event.
Chaminade Julienne's varsity football season opens Thursday, Aug. 29 with a 7 p.m. home game against Troy at Wayne High School.
