Moran Signs to Swim at Georgia Tech

A CJ record holder will be making waves in college as Macleary Moran ‘18 committed to swim at the Georgia Institute of Technology on Friday, April 27.

“They have a great engineering program,” Moran noted. “My major was very important to me. They also have a great swimming program.”

Moran, who qualified for the state swimming tournament all four years at CJ, will be studying material science and engineering in college.

“She leads by example,” CJ swimming head coach Kate Whistler noted. “She’s a hard worker, she has her head in it. Academically, she’s one of the top in her class; so on top of her swimming excellence, you can’t ask for a more well-rounded athlete. Plus, she’s a very nice person.”

The CJ swimming records Moran currently holds are in the 200 and 400 medley relay, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle, and 200 backstroke. Postseason accolades for Moran included being named to the All-GCL first team in the 200 and 500 freestyle from 2015-2018. Moran was also named to the All-GCL first team for the 200 and 400 freestyle relays (2015) and All-GCL second team for the 200 medley relay (2018.)

“She’s the epitome of a CJ student, and I will miss her,” Whistler concluded.
