Rowers Qualify for National Competition

Update: Congratulations to the Dayton Boat Club! The Youth Women's 8 placed 18th in the nation!

First Report: “We’re all in the same boat,” Riley Ferdelman ‘21 laughed.

Quite literally, though, Ferdelman will be alongside three other Eagles — Grace Blust ‘19, Aubrey Trimbach ‘20 and Maria Weizman ‘20 — as they compete at the USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida beginning June 6.

“We’re proud, it’s almost doesn’t seem real,” Trimbach said.

The students are all members of the Dayton Boat Club and qualified for the Youth Women’s 8. The group shared this is the first time a Women’s 8 from the Dayton Boat Club has qualified for nationals.

“This is a difficult sport, so going through it together definitely brings us closer,” Weizman noted.

For most of the Eagles, this is a return trip to the national competition, but the first time rowing in Florida. Along with the Women’s 8, the Dayton Boat Club qualified a group for the Youth Men’s quad.

Good luck to all competitors!
