Congratulations to senior Rachel Craighead who qualified for the Division II state championship meet this season. She finished 42nd among a field of 139 runners on Nov. 2 at National Trail Raceway course.
"Rachel, a relatively new runner, has accomplished in two years what many runners will not accomplish in a lifetime," said head coach Maura Lemon. Since joining the team last year she shaved off more than five minutes from her personal best, becoming the program's top runner.
"Rachel has gladly made sacrifices of both body and time to make it to the state meet," Lemon said. "She wanted this more than she wanted anything else, which is precisely what it took to make this dream a reality."
The senior's state qualifying time of 19:33 was 26 seconds faster than her previous best this year, good for a 16th place regional finish.
The women's cross country team finished third at districts and advanced to regionals as a team for the second season in a row.
