Two seniors will continue their athletic and academic careers as Zach Braun and Madie Denman committed to playing soccer and lacrosse respectively in college on Friday, April 27.
Braun will be attending Bluffton University and intends to study physics.
“I chose it because they gave me the opportunity to play soccer at the collegiate level and at a faith based school,” Braun said. “I like the campus a lot and it turned out to be a no brainer at the end.”
Braun added, “I loved playing soccer at CJ and after 13 years of playing the sport, I thought I might as well continue it if given the opportunity.”
Madie Denman will be attending Transylvania University and intends to study ecology and evolutionary biology.
“I wanted to play lacrosse in college and Transylvania was my top choice for it,” Denman said. “They also have the degrees I’m interested in.”
Several CJ alumni play lacrosse at Transylvania, including Julia Ward ‘14 and Olivia Livingston ‘17.
“One of my good friends plays lacrosse at Transylvania so that makes it even better,” Denman noted.
In addition to playing for the Eagles, Denman played for Velocity lacrosse the past several summers.
“She has an energy and enthusiasm for lacrosse,” CJ women’s lacrosse head coach Danielle Cash said. “Madie is a leader on the field and off. She is one of our senior captains and is doing a great job at it. I have no doubt Made is going to do great things at Transy.”
