CJ Philosophy: The “Catholic” part of the educational experience is very evident at CJ. I believe we offer an amazing variety of ways that students can grow in faith. From regularly scheduled Eucharist and prayer services, to retreats, to Religion class, to the LIFE group to the many service opportunities, CJ is continually encouraging students to live out their faith. We are definitely rooted in Catholic Tradition which includes an openness to all people of faith. The ongoing connection with the Society of Mary and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur makes sure that faith formation, service, and prayer are central
to life at CJ.
I am also very happy with the “educational” aspects of CJ. Since I teach freshmen and seniors, I get a chance to see how students have grown over the course of four years. By the time they are seniors, they have grown as thinkers, communicators, and problem solvers. They are definitely ready for college by the time they graduate.
All of this takes place within an “experience” of a community of diverse individuals. As a parent of two graduates, I can testify that CJ has formed students ready to continue their college career as people of faith and life long learners.
Although I have had the privilege of teaching for a while, I am still a student. I like to learn and I learn from my students every day. I bring an openness to learning; I bring my own background as a Catholic Christian with a background of studying theology.
