Director of Finance and Accounting

Join us as the Director of Finance and Accounting and oversee all finance and accounting functions at our school. Your expertise in accounting, budgeting, financial management, and reporting will be crucial in supporting our mission and ensuring our financial health.
Your Responsibilities:
As a Director of Finance and Accounting, you will be responsible for:Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Serve on the Leadership Team and Planning Council.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making.

Accounting and Financial Operations:

  • Prepare and provide timely financial statements and oversee daily financial operations.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets and conduct regular reviews with department managers.
  • Lead the development of the annual budget and conduct regular budget reviews.
  • Manage efforts to collect overdue accounts and support collection efforts as needed.

Financial Reporting:

  • Manage banking and financial relationships and prepare necessary reports.
  • Prepare accounts receivable aging reports and tax documentation.
  • Prepare financial reports requested for leadership, Board, and other partners.

Human Resources:

  • Support and guide effective human resources activities.
  • Participate in reviews of compensation and employee benefits.
  • Assure compliance with organizational and legal requirements.

Tuition and Payroll Management:

  • Analyze and manage tuition planning and assistance allocation.
  • Communicate tuition collection practices and policies to parents.
  • Review payroll processes and employee benefits.
Your Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 6+ years of proven success in an accounting/finance role
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices for non-profit organizations
  • Senior-level accounting experience at the controller level (preferred)
  • CPA Certification in good standing (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, MS Excel, and Blackbaud Financial Edge (preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to direct, train, and coach staff
