The successful candidate will be someone who understands that school safety is about more than

Your Responsibilities: As a School Safety Officer, you will:
● Protect the lives, safety, and property of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the Chaminade Julienne
Catholic High School community.
● Uphold and enforce applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the Ohio Revised Code, as
well as school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
● Conduct routine and comprehensive security assessments of school buildings, classrooms, athletic
facilities, grounds, parking areas, and other campus locations to identify potential safety and security
concerns.
● Maintain a visible security presence throughout the Chaminade Julienne campus while fostering a
safe, welcoming, and respectful environment consistent with the school’s Catholic mission and
values.
● Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, threats, disturbances, medical incidents,
security concerns, and other crises occurring on or near campus.
● Investigate suspected criminal activity, safety violations, threats, and incidents occurring on school
property or involving students, faculty, staff, or visitors, in accordance with applicable laws and
school procedures.
● Work collaboratively with school administration, faculty, staff, parents/guardians, students, and local
law enforcement and emergency services agencies to promote a safe and secure educational
environment.
● Assist school administrators in developing, implementing, reviewing, and continuously improving
School Emergency Management Plans, crisis-response procedures, lockdown protocols, evacuation
plans, reunification procedures, and other emergency preparedness initiatives.
● Participate in emergency drills and exercises, including fire, severe weather, lockdown, evacuation,
and other crisis-response drills, and provide recommendations for improving campus preparedness.
● Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local law enforcement, fire, EMS,
emergency management, and other public-safety agencies serving the school and surrounding
community.
● Monitor campus access, visitor activity, parking areas, and other security-sensitive locations and take
appropriate action to address unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
● Document security incidents, investigations, safety concerns, and other significant events accurately
and in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
● Assist school leadership in identifying security vulnerabilities and recommending practical
improvements to physical security, emergency preparedness, surveillance, access control, and overall
campus safety.
● Support a school culture in which safety, respect, personal responsibility, service, and care for others
are reflected in daily interactions with students and the broader Chaminade Julienne community.
Your Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you need:
● Be 21 years of age or older.
● Be a United States citizen.
● Be in good physical condition and able to perform the essential duties of the position.
● Possess an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) Basic Police Officer
Certification, be eligible for re-commissioning, or meet applicable requirements under the Law
Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA/H.R. 218) to carry a firearm in Ohio.
● Successfully complete all required background checks and screening processes.
● Have prior experience working in a school or educational environment preferred.
● Demonstrate strong communication, judgment, professionalism, and interpersonal skills.
● Be committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for students, faculty,
staff, and visitors.
