At CJ, we take pride in our diverse student community and celebrate the many cultures, traditions, and experiences that enrich our school. Inspired by the hallmarks of our founders, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we recognize diversity as a gift that strengthens our community and brings us closer together.
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15 to October 15, the Student Organization of Multilingual Origins con Sazón (SOMOS) helped bring Hispanic culture and traditions to life across our campus. From playing Spanish music in the morning and leading our 3 o’clock prayer in Spanish to organizing a special event for all CJ students, SOMOS created meaningful opportunities for our community to learn, connect, and celebrate together.
On Monday, Oct. 5, we featured samples of traditional dishes from various countries, a lively game of lotería, line dancing, and a piñata. These activities offered students opportunities to experience and appreciate the richness and diversity of Hispanic cultures in a joyful and engaging way.
We are deeply grateful to SOMOS for helping make this celebration possible and to all who contribute to the vibrant, multicultural community that makes CJ so special. Celebrations like these remind us that embracing our differences, learning from one another, and recognizing the gifts each person brings are essential to fostering a welcoming and inclusive school environment.
