Izzy Schneider ’25 Named GCL Bowler of the Year

April 22, 2025

From rookie high school bowler to GCL Bowler of the Year, Izzy Schneider ’25 quickly made up for lost time.

“I had zero competitive bowling experience before high school,” Schneider said. “I just decided to do bowling for fun.”

That fun translated into success as the Eagles senior added almost 60 pins to her average – from 129.8 as a freshman to 188.8 this season. The three-time district qualifier was both the CJ and GCL MVP the past two seasons. Schneider also tallied more than 20,000 pins during her four years as a varsity bowler.

“As someone who has been around CJ bowling for quite some time, Izzy is one of the best bowlers I’ve seen at CJ – boy or girl,” Eagles coach Ben Postigo said. “She is a determined individual who always sets the bar high for herself, and it showed this year with her numerous achievements and awards.”

Among those achievements was breaking the school record for high game, a feat she accomplished by posting a 266 in a regular-season match against Stivers.

“I didn’t actually know I broke the record until my Senior Night,” Schneider said. “I was shocked because I never thought I was good enough to break a school record – especially high game. It feels amazing and it’s so rewarding to have had such an outstanding career at CJ.”

While the record high game was a pleasant surprise, it’s not the accomplishment she is most proud of.

“I’m most proud of being the GCL MVP back-to-back,” she said. “I worked so hard to be the best in the GCL. Even though some of them gave me a good fight, achieving those awards gives me the satisfaction of ending on a good note.”

Schneider led the conference in average (184.4), high game (233), high series (450) and pins (2,761).

Bowling will take a back seat for a bit as Schneider will attend the University of Toledo in the fall to study nursing.

“I want to be able to focus on my education,” she said. “That being said, I hope when I graduate college, or find some time in the future, I can come back to bowling and enjoy it.”
