Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School Recognized as 2025 CAPE Blue Ribbon School of Excellence — The Only Private School in Ohio

October 15, 2025

The Council for American Private Education (CAPE) announced today, October 15, 2025, that Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School (CJ) is Ohio’s only private school to receive the 2025 CAPE Blue Ribbon School Award, formerly the National Blue Ribbon School Award, having met the U.S. Department of Education’s criteria for this prestigious national recognition.

CAPE identified Chaminade Julienne as a 2025 recipient in the Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing Schools category, an honor reserved for schools that “excel in narrowing achievement gaps between different student groups and the overall student body.”

“I’m immensely proud of this group of educators and teachers who have made this achievement a reality,” said Greg Mueller, principal. “CJ’s recognition in the category of Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing illustrates our commitment to serve all learners and prepare them to succeed in college, highlighting the dedication of our people and the quality of our programs.”

CJ’s academic outcomes demonstrate this commitment.

Of the 170 graduates in the Class of 2025, more than 97 percent continued on to formal education, earning more than $29 million in scholarships. Since 2020, CJ has produced 15 National Merit Scholars, with graduates accepted to nearly 350 colleges and universities.

Many students earn college credit through College Credit Plus, including one 2023 graduate who completed an associate degree while still in high school. During the 2024–2025 school year, 169 students took 203 Advanced Placement exams across 10 subject areas, and each senior participated in ACT testing.

“This recognition is a testament to the commitment and faith-driven professionalism of our teachers and staff,” said Dan Meixner, president. “It affirms the transformational work they do every day to support all students and honor the traditions of our sponsors, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and the Marianists.”

This is the second time CJ has received this distinction. In 1989, the school was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National School of Excellence, the predecessor to the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award, in recognition of its rich tradition, committed faculty, diverse student body, and supportive community.
